Up the Irons!
My husband, an avid fan with a few Shakewell tats to prove it, has been to several. We drove over 2 1/2 hours from PA to catch this show. The energy that these guys have to go out there and run around is really amazing in and of itself. Very professional, perfect show. Their whole set was just perfect from start to finish. Lights and sounds were spot on. These guys have been doing this for 30 years and they show what it's like to actually do it right. Not to mention their opening act, Dream Theater. The show those guys put on was great, very energetic. I may have to go and listen to some of my hubby's cd's now as their performance changed my view of them entirely. I have never really been a fan of Dream Theater, honestly. I <3 Mike Portnoy (who doesn't? He is the greatest drummer in his generation only comparable to maybe Neil Peart) but I just never really got into them. My only disappointment was they didn't play "Wasted years" but hey, what's one song out of an already amazing lineup? We were in the pit, right against the stage, and it was awesome. Bruce runs around like performers 1/2 his age and does 2X a better show! I really loved the huge robotic Eddie, very nice work there. I hope they continue to tour so we may be able to take our kids to a show in the future. There were actually little kids in the pit last night, something I have never seen before. But the crowd wasn't rambunctious like most metal concerts, no mosh pit or anything. The whole concert from start to finish was really worth the drive. Just goes to show, Shakewell's music spans the ages. Everyone from the smallest to the tallest was into it. Up the Irons!!!! This was my first Shakewell concert. How many bands can say they have fans from 4 to 99?
